The Animated Series' Showrunner Is Aware of Your Season 2 Predictions — With Some Good News

The much-anticipated second season of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel launches on Prime Video this week, and fan speculation has been widespread.

Season 1 presents a large cast of personalities living within Hell and Heaven, pits them against each other with musical numbers detailing their conflicts, and builds tense rivalries and emotional bonds that fuel audience devotion.

The fandom's stated hopes for season 2 vary widely, but certain threads recur frequently: Will Angel Dust escape his tormentor? Will we find out more about the binding agreement constraining Alastor the Radio Demon? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?

"Obviously, I don't produce the show with fan service specifically in mind," the showrunner commented earlier this year. "However I feel like me being a devotee of the series means there's a lot of it just naturally. I also am eager for these things, and I want some of these things to happen, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"

She says her big-picture plan is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have already been green-lit by Prime Video and A24, which finance the series.

That might mean viewers have to be patient for some of the biggest payoffs — but they could be shocked at how fast season 2 moves, and how many of what they're waiting for unfolds this season.

"I believe people are going to be highly satisfied," the creator notes. "There are several debut moments. I think we get some incredible reveals, some fascinating backstories, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear additional musical numbers from the characters we didn't get to hear before."

She's certainly aware of the theories and desires about the upcoming season — especially in the form of audience prediction charts.

"I've seen a few fans create a prediction grid about the new season," she says. "Obviously I can't post it, but I've already completed a few items, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."

Hazbin Hotel the second season launches on the streaming service on October 29.
